Individual comments:

Although it doesn't sound very compromising, we'd hate to see even 200 more homes built on BD Rd. Our best chance at saving all the green space may be to have the County purchase it for a park. Interesting timing of the article in the FCN, 9/27, saying the Commissioners have a month to go on a capital improvement shopping spree, even listing parks and recreation space as a "need". Amenities like walking (cart) paths, tennis courts and pool are already in place. Wouldn't the county's offer to Manton/Bagley be a nice way to forego the legal battle?? Otherwise, thank you so much for your hard work, perseverance and determination on our behalf.

Negotiations moving forward will need to have less animosity. Also, a 9 hole course with deed restrictions and less than 200 homes would be OK as a last choice.

We certainly appreciate all your efforts and will continue to help whenever you need us.

Need more opportunities to gather feedback from LL Members (and non-members in immediate area) similar to this survey or community meetings/forums. This should make sure LL Leaders are better able to implement the will of the surrounding community and unify their support of LL efforts. Under worst case scenario of property is definitely being developed, the 9 hole alternative is preferred over a NO GOLF COURSE alternative. (Some preservation is better than absolutely none!)

You have done a magnificent job of protecting our rights as private property owners and private citizens. Thank you.

Would like to have heard the presentation of the attorney who passed away. Could he have prevented the prior dismissal and pushed forward to obtain the deposition of the party responsible for the map change? Maybe, but again, so far so good.

I would like to see the 18 hole course continue as existing. That may not happen. If it can not be the current 18 hole course, I would agree with a good sized 9 hole course with deed restrictions that require it to always be a well maintained golf course. I would like to see the number of homes be limited to less than as been discussed. It would seem fair to have a few town homes, exactly like those on number 2, along Buford Dam Road (maybe 2 rows). The rest of the home sites should be no smaller than 15,000 sq ft. I do not know how many sites this would be, but my guess would be less than 200 total. I know that is still a traffic increase, but only one-third as much as originally proposed. The town homes must be restricted to a minimum of 2,400 sq ft and the homes should be a minimum of 3,000 sq ft. This should put them in the area of the adjoining existing homes.

Lowery has already proven we cannot trust his word - he had said he would go away if the rezoning was denied, but now he plans a lawsuit...

Paul Baron pretty much hit the nail on the head for me with his 3 minute talk at the last Commissioners meeting.  1)  The Golf Course Owners should not be allowed to build "whatever they want"  Just as I cannot build whatever I want on my land.  2)  There has been no meaningful dialogue between the golf course owners and the local homeowners.  It is obvious to me why this polarization happened.   The "trust" went out the window when we all became aware of the Activity Center map change ( no text change ). The following threats and challenges haven't helped my trust issues much either. I consider myself a "reasonable" person... and am willing to listen to reasonable proposals.  I am hopeful this golf course matter can be settled in a beneficial manner to all parties.

The decisions which the court system will make will have far reaching impact beyond Lanier Golf Course and will be a deciding factor for other threatened green spaces. I would recommend LanierLifestyle reach out to national media for help. 20/20, PrimeTime and national news shows provide a forum which takes these issues seriously and exposes what corporations such as WellStone are known for.

County needs park space or public golf course. Something but more houses that nobody will buy or more retail strip malls. I've never anywhere on the planet more strip malls that in Metro Atlanta.

Many e-mails and letters on my mailbox were helpful on the info that was happening in our community

How will we find out if the golf owners are taking their case to court?  [LL note – news will be posted to www.lanierlifestyle.com as soon as it becomes available]
